Animation is a method in which pictures are set to appear as moving images. In traditional animation, images are painted or drawn by hand on transparent celluloid sheets to be photographed and displayed on film.
Now Days, animations are made with computer-generated imagery (CGI). Computer animation are created in 2D, 3D and so on. Animation is more extensive than many people notice. Genearaly animation is used in short films, feature films, animated gifs and other media ment to the display of moving images, apart from them animation is also largely used for video games, motion graphics and special effects.
1. Traditional Aninamtion :
Tranditional animation was used for most animated films process of the 20th century. In traditional animation film the individual frames are photographs of drawings which first drawn o paper. Each drwaing differs slightly from the one before it which create the illusion of movement.
A transparent celluloid sheets known as cell used to trace or photocopy of drawings drawn by animators.
2. Stop motion animation :
In Stop-montion animation, animation are displayed by physically manipulating real-world objects and photographing them one frame at a time to create the illusion of movement.

Computer animation uses different techniques to create animation. The main factor is that the animation is created digitally on a computer.

2D Animation - In 2D animation 2D bitmap graphics and 2D vector graphics are used to create or edit 2D animation figures on the computer. This process use automated computerized versions of traditional animation techniques, interpolated morphing, onion skinning and interpolated rotoscoping.
3D animation - In 3D animation animator usually build virtual worlds in which characters and objects move and interact. It starts by creating a 3D polygon mesh to manipulate. A mesh typically includes many vertices that are connected by edges and faces, which give the visual appearance of form to a 3D object or 3D environment.
4. Mechanical Animation:
In Mechanical animation audio-animatronics and autonomatronics are used which is a mechatronics to create machines that seem animate rather than robotics.
