Formatting Tag

These are some of formatting HTML Tags:

  • <acronym> - This tag deifnes an acronym. It is not supported in HTML5. It was used in HTML 4.01.

    • USAGE:-

      • <html><head><title>Title Text</title><body>Can I get this <acronym title="as soon as possible">ASAP</acronym>?</body></html>

  • <abbr> - This tag also defines an acronym or an abbreviation to word like HTML, ASAP, ATM. It is supported by HTML5.

    • USAGE:-

      • <html><head><title>Title Text</title><body>You have done transaction from <abbr title="Atomated Teller Machine">ATM</abbr> of SBI.</body></html>

  • <address> - This tag used to define contact information for the author/owner of a document or an article in HTML page. Address tag used inside the <body> tag then it represent contact info for the document and if used inside the <article> tag then it represent contact info for that article.

    • Usage:-

      • <address>Written by <a href="mailto:support@codenow.online">Codenow</a>.<br>Visit us at:<br>codenow.online<br>World wide Web<br></address>

  • <b> - <b> tag used to make text bold without any extra importance.

    • USAGE:-

      • <p> Normal Text example <b> This bold Text </b>.</p>

  • <bdi> - The <bdi> tag used for isolating a part of text that might be formatted in a different direction from other text outside it. It is useful when embedding user generated content with an unknown directionality.

    • USAGE:-

      • <p> we have a <bdi>hrefs</bdi> fine product</p>

  • <bdo> - The <bdo> tag is used to override the current text direction. bdo full form is Bi-Directional Override.

    • USAGE:-

      • <bdo dir="rtl>This Text will go right to left</bdo>

  • <big> - This tag used to make text bigger. It is not supported by HTTML5. Used in HTML40.1.

    • UsaGE:-

      • <p><big> Make Bigger text</big></p>

  • <blockquote> - Used for specifying a section thatt is quoted from another source.

    • USAGE:-

      • <blockquote cite="https://codenow.online/blog">We have blog section which provides more information in many different things</blockquote>

  • <center> - This tag used for making content or text center align. HTML 40.1 Suports <center> tag but HTML5 does not support and use CSS instead for making text align center.

    • USAGE:-

      • <center>This text will be center-aligned.</center>

  • <cite> - In HTML5 <cite> tag defines title of a work but in HTML 4.01 defines a citation.

    • USAGE:-

      • <p><cite>The Scream</cite> by Edward Munch. Painted in 1893.</p>

  • <code> - This is a phrase tag. It used for displaying a piece of computer code.

    • USAGE:-

      • <code> x=10; y=30; z=x+y; print z; <code> a piece codes for computer program.

  • <del> & <ins> - The <del> tag used to mark deleted text from a document where the <ins> tag used to mark the inserted text in a document. In <del> tag text shown in strike text and <ins> tag shown in underline text.

    • USAGE:-

      • <p>My favorite color is <del>blue</del> <ins>red</ins>!</p>

  • <dfn> - tag represents the defining instance of a term in HTML. It can used with ‘title’ attribute or without it. You can use <bbr> tag inside <dfn> tag and can use ID for refer back the definition using a <a> tag.

    • USAGE:-

      • <p><dfn>HTML</dfn> is the standard markup language for creating web pages.</p>

      • <p><dfn title="HyperText Markup Language">HTML</dfn> is the standard markup language for creating web pages.</p>

      • <p><dfn><abbr title="HyperText Markup Language">HTML</abbr></dfn> is the standard markup language for creating web pages.</p>

  • <em> - This one also a phrase tag. It display text as emphasized.

    • USAGE:-

      • <em>Emphasized text</em>

  • <font> - This tag is used for font face, font size and color of text.

    • USAGE:-

      • <font size="3" color="red">font size text!</font>

      • <font size="2" color="blue">Color text!</font>

      • <font face="verdana" color="green">Font Family text!</font>

  • <i> - In HTML 40.1 <i> tag is used to render text in italics but for HTML5 not necessarily the same case. It defines a part of text in an alternative mood or voice.

    • USAGE:-

      • <p>He named his car <i>The lightning</i>, because it was very fast.</p>

  • <kbd> - The <kbd> tag defines keyboard input. It is a phrase tag.

    • USAGE:-

      • <kbd>Keyboard input</kbd>

  • <mark> - This tag is used to highlight a part of text from a paragraph. Most browser display the <mark> tag element with yellow background and black color text.

    • USAGE:-

      • <p>Do not buy <mark>chikeck</mark> today.</p>

  • <meter> - This tag used as a scalar measurement within a known range, or a fractional value. This is also known as a gauge. This tag is not supported by Internet Explorer, Edge 12, Safari 5 and erlier versions.

    • USAGE:-

      • <meter value="2" min="0" max="10">2 out of 10</meter>

      • <meter value="0.6">60%</meter>

  • <pre> -  This tag is used to display preformatted text. It preserves both spaces and line breaks.

    • USAGE:-

      • <pre> This Text     is will be displayed in pre formatted form</pre>

  • <progress> - The <progress> tag is used to represents the progress of a task.

    • USAGE:-

      • <progress value="22" max="100"></progress>

  • <q> - This Tag defines a shor quotation.

    • USAGE:-

      • <p> Welcome to my world of coding <q>Build a future with the coding in computer</q> to show your skill.</p>

  • <rp> - The <rp> tag is used to show in browsers that do not support ruby annotations.

    • USAGE:-

      • <ruby>漢 <rt><rp>(</rp>ㄏㄢˋ<rp>)</rp></rt></ruby>

  • <rt> - The <rt> tag defines an explanation or pronunciation of characters (for East Asian typography) in a ruby annotation.

    • USAGE:-

      • <ruby>漢 <rt> ㄏㄢˋ </rt></ruby>

  • <ruby> - The <ruby> tag is used to specify a ruby annotations (for East Asian typography).

    • USAGE:-

      • <ruby>漢 <rt> ㄏㄢˋ </rt></ruby>

  • <s> - The <s> tag is used to mark the text no longer relevant or correct in html document and marked text will show in strike form.

    • USAGE:-

      • <p><s>My car is blue.</s></p>

  •  <samp> - This tag is a phrase tag. It defines sample outpur from a computer code.

    • USAGE:-

      • <samp>Sample output from a computer program</samp>

  • <small> - This tag is used to show text smaller.

    • USAGE:-

      • <p>Well come to my <small>codenow world!</small>. wooo!</p>

  • <strike> - This tag is used to strikethrough the text. It is not supported in HTML5 and uses <del> or <s> instead.

    • USAGE:-

      • <p>Version 2.0 is <strike>not yet available!</strike> now available!</p>

  • <strong> - The <strong> tag is used to defines important text. It is a phrase text. It ouputs bold text.

    • USAGE:-

      • <strong>Hello HTML World!</strong>

  • <sub> - This tag make text subscript. Subscript text apprears half  a character below the normal line.

    • USAGE:-

      • <p> Formula of Water is H<sub>2</sub>O.</p>

  • <sup> - This tag is used to make text superscript. Superscript text aprears half a character above normal line.

    • USAGE:-

      • <p> The formula of area of circle is πr<sup>2</sup>.</p>

  • <template> - The < template> tag is used to hold the content hidden from the user. Later using JavaScript <template> tag contents are displayed.

    • USAGE:-

      • <template> You cannot see this text</template>

  • <time> - This Tag is used to make date and time human-readable. Also used to encodes date and time in a machine-readable.

    • USAGE:-

      • <p>We open at <time>10:00</time> every morning.</p>

      • <p>I have a date on <time datetime="2008-02-14 20:00">Valentines day</time>.</p>

  • <tt> - This tag is used to define teletype text. Not Support in HTML5.

    • USAGE:-

      • <p><tt>Teletype Text</tt></p>

  • <u> - The <u> tag is used to make text underline.

    • USAGE:-

      • <p>This is a <u>Underline Text</u>.</p>

  • <var> - The <var> tag defines the Variable. It is a phrase tag.

    • USAGE:-

      • <var>Variable</var>

  • <wbr> - This a world break tag and used to add a line-break in text when a word too long.

    • USAGE:-

      • <p>To learn AJAX, you must be familiar with the XML<wbr>Http<wbr>Request Object.</p>
