Meta Info Tags

Meta information in HTML document are defined by these tags given below:

 

  • <meta> - The <meta> tag is used provide metadata about the HTML document. Metadata like, description, keywords,author of the document, viewport for media, and other metadata. The <meta> tag is defined inside of head tag.
    • USAGE:-
      • <head>
          <meta charset="UTF-8">
          <meta name="description" content="Free Web tutorials">
          <meta name="keywords" content="HTML,CSS,JavaScript,PHP">
          <meta name="author" content="Codenow">
          <meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width, initial-scale=1.0">

        </head>
  • <base> - A base URI or URL/target for all relative URLs is specified by the <base> tag in HTML document. The <base> tag is used within head tag and only one base tag us used in a doucment.
    • USAGE:-
      • <!DOCTYPE html>
        <html>
           <head>
              <title>HTML base Tag</title>
              <base href = "https://codenow.online" target="_blank" >
           </head>
           <body>
              HTML: <img src = "/img/code_now-logo.png" >
           </body>
        </html>
  • <basefont> - The <basefont> tag is used to specify the default text-color, font-size or font-family for all text in a document.
    • USAGE:-
      • <!DOCTYPE html>
        <html>
           <head>
            <basefont color="red" size="5" face="Arial">
           </head>
           <body>
            <h1>This is a heading</h1>
            <p>This is a paragraph.</p>
           </body>
